There is a new executive for HBO's series and specials. Sue Naegle was appointed President of HBO's entertainment division. She has some shows to build on such as "Big Love", "In Treatment", and "Tell Me You Love Me".
She also said she had high hopes for “True Blood,” a series that begins this fall and that she helped assemble (in her capacity as an agent) for HBO.
I also have high hopes for True Blood, but so far I am iffy. I want to watch a few more episodes before I say yay or nay. I love Big Love, but I haven't seen the other two shows yet.
If I had to attach it to category I’d put this in with suspense/drama but it could be too early to tell; think Buffy for grown ups.
...this show is nothing like Buffy. Sookie isn't a teenage highschool cheerleader trying to kill off all the vampires. She stands up for vampire rights and even falls in love with one. Sookie is also not as annoying as Buffy, but can't say much for her friend, Tara. True Blood and Buffy are two totally different story lines. Sorry, but there is no comparison for me.
Pretty Sookie is saccharine and has a secret: she can read minds. Which kind of blows when you wear tight shirts and shorts to work at a gross bar filled with dirty men.
I wonder why they have Sookie in such a tight shirt when she doesn't like dirty talk. If it bothers her so much, then why doen't she wear a looser shirt. I'm sure Sam would understand, as I believe he knows that Sookie can hear what everyone thinks. You can see the disgust on her face when anyone mentions anything remotely dirty. Although, everybody is pushed out of her head whenever she sees Bill. Sookie's brother, Jason, is the complete oppisite of Sookie. He is a bit of a player and is arrested for suspicion of murder of a woman he was with the night before.
Sookie is upset, and but still mystified by the appearance of Bill: surely he'll be blamed for this murder.
I never thought of Bill being blamed for this womans murder, but I wonder what Jason's defense will be...or if he did it at all.
Some of Fall new shows have been leaked on Torrents sites already. Some who have see these shows have made their comments on whether they are great or whether they will fail. True Blood was among one of the shows that have been leaked and here's what some of them had to say:
True Blood: HBO’s new fall drama “tells the story of a group of vampires who settle in a small town in Louisiana”, according to HBO.com, and is scheduled to premiere on 9/07. The True Blood pilot leaked on the June 16th and didn’t bode so well with file sharers. Says one: “Southern does not equal brain-dead hillbilly. Terrible show.”
Many pilot show are leaking on the Internet. Could this be good or bad for the networks?
One of them already is benefitting from the extra exposure. Fox's "Fringe," by producer J.J. Abrams of "Lost" fame, found its way on the Net last week, and it's been amassing good word of mouth.
HBO's True Blood has also made it to the net, starring Anna Paquin. I love to be able to watch pilots of new shows...I can never wait until the start of fall season.
